How to fix your reputation is one of those things that typically comes up only after something terribly wrong had occurred. When it comes to business reputation, there are more companies than you can count that attribute a reliable repeat business or a steady increase in business traffic year after year on their reputation.
But, so many of those same companies cannot break it down and explain in quantifiable way, what that exactly means. They don’t have to worry about repairing a damaged reputation or how to change a bad reputation. They’re riding high on their good reputation.
While their good fortune is most certainly well earned, it’s easy to imagine that if they took the time to break it down there’s a strong possibility that they might find aspects that can be improved or further leveraged to increase business.
To leave it unexamined could be costing these same companies untold dollars in lost revenue. Again, even if you’re not struggling with restoring your reputation, there are ways to take it up a notch. Thinking it through a little further, there’s an element of exposure to potential problems from unpredictable sources so long as an understanding of what fuels your reputation remains unexamined.

He arrived at these ten main components of organizational reputation used in reputation measurement systems: They are:
- Ethics: the organization behaves ethically, is admirable, is worthy of respect, and is trustworthy.
- Employees/workplace: the organization has talented employees, treats its people well, and is an appealing workplace.
- Financial performance: the organization is financially strong, has a record of profitability, and has growth prospects.
- Leadership: the organization is a leader rather than a follower, and is innovative.
- Management: the organization is well managed, has high quality management, and has a clear vision for the future.
- Social responsibility: the organization recognizes social responsibilities, and supports good causes.
- Customer focus: the organization cares about and is strongly committed to customers.
- Quality: the organization offers high quality products and services.
- Reliability: the organization stands behind its products and services, and provides consistent service.
- Emotional appeal: it is an organization I feel good about, is kind, and is fun.
